Dental caries or cavity is a process of demineralization on calcified hard surface of tooth. To form cavity to teeth surfaces 4 factors needed.
- Germs Bacteria
- Carbohydrate/sucrose
- Time and
- Acid
sweets or carbs breaks down into sucrose and make a layer on the surface of teeth surface with the help of salivary contents. Then germs deposit on it and breakdown the sucrose to produce acid. This acid remove calcium from the surface of tooth and gradually make a cavity. Its usually takes several months to make a cavity on the surface of tooth surface.
