Dental implants are the most effective way to replace single or multiple missing teeth. Implants look and feel the same as natural teeth and are the most appropriate option for dealing with significant gaps where teeth have been lost due to accident or injury.
Tooth loss can impact your life in a number of ways. It can affect your self-confidence, how you speak and what you choose to eat.
But fitting dental implants is a straightforward solution that requires minimal healing time.
Discover the answers to your common dental implant questions below and learn how we can help to get you smiling with confidence once again.
What are Dental Implants?
A dental implant is a small titanium rod that is permanently fixed into your jawbone. The implant fuses with the bone and provides a strong and long-lasting support for a single crown or denture.
You must have a dental implant fitted as soon as possible after losing or breaking your tooth. Over time, your remaining teeth will start to move and twist because of the gap. This can lead to food becoming trapped and causing further problems, including bad breath, cavities, and gum disease.
How do Dental Implants work?
Fitting dental implants is a relatively simple procedure where you need to be under local anaesthetic at our dental practice in Sheffield. During the procedure, we place titanium posts in the bone, and over a few months, the implants will bond with the bone in a process called osseointegration.
Once fully healed, we can fit replacement teeth onto the implants, which by now will be securely in place. You may experience some soreness or discomfort following the surgery, but this usually clears up within a few days.
What are the different types of Dental Implants?
At Mola Dental, we offer four different types of dental implants:
Single Replacement Tooth:
Used when one missing tooth requires replacement. The implant needs to be fitted soon after you have lost a tooth, as this will minimise the amount of bone loss in the area, making the implant easier to fit.
Stabilisation of Dentures:
This procedure uses implants to provide support for an overdenture. We make this overdenture from acrylic material with custom teeth and metal reinforcement.
Replacement of Missing Teeth:
We will place multiple implants following the loss of several teeth. We’ll install an implant-supported bridge to provide support by the implants rather than the natural roots of the teeth.
Implant Retained Bridges for Multiple Missing Teeth
An implant retained bridge can be fitted when you have a gap of two or more teeth. For example, if you had a four-tooth gap, you could place two implants in the gap and secure a four-unit bridge from the implant.
Full Arch Teeth in a Day (All on Four):
We replace all of your top or bottom teeth using dental implants. Four titanium implants are placed into the top or bottom of your jaw to hold the arches of prosthetic teeth in place. These prosthetic teeth look, feel, and perform just like natural teeth and are a more comfortable alternative to removable dentures. This procedure can be done in one day under full sedation.
How much do Dental Implants cost?
We offer 0% finance so you can spread the cost of your treatment. Prices start from 60,00.00 BDT for a single implant with a crown. Contact us with one of our friendly receptionists to discuss your requirements in more detail.
Remember that ignoring a missing tooth or teeth can lead to more problems (and more expensive bills) in the future. The sooner you seek treatment, the better, as you won’t cause any further damage to your oral health and you won’t risk extra unnecessary costs.
How long will Dental Implants last?
Like natural teeth, dental implants will remain in good condition as long as they are properly cared for. With regular maintenance and check-ups, implants will last for as long as your natural teeth.
Make sure that you are practising proper oral hygiene at home, as well as scheduling regular appointments with a hygienist.
Will people be able to tell that I have a Dental Implant?
We design our expertly fitted dental implants to look and feel exactly like a natural tooth. We carefully match any artificial teeth to the colour and shape of your surrounding teeth.
This means that our dental implants are virtually undetectable and are very unlikely to be noticed while you are smiling or talking.
